The Noordertuin of Antwerp
The starting point of this route is in Kapellen. From here you set course for Putte and Kalmthout, where you cycle through various forest areas. This area is part of the'Noordertuin van Antwerpen\\\', a region full of beautiful nature reserves, parks and gardens north of Antwerp. This nature reserve extends to the border with the Netherlands, where the Antwerp Kempen merges into the Brabantse Kempen. In short, the area around Kapellen forms the green gateway to the Antwerp Kempen, which extend further through Belgium.

The Mastenbos
Along the way you cycle through the Mastenbos, among other things. This nature reserve covers approximately 178 hectares and consists of forests, heathlands and rough grasslands. In this area you will find various plants and animals. The most special animal that lives here is the nightjar. This rare bird is well protected. You will also find traces of an old landscape park here and there in this forest. Think of water features and tree avenues.

De Uitlegger nature reserve
Another nature reserve near Kapellen is De Uitlegger. In May and June you can enjoy blooming rhododendrons and azaleas here. Not only does it look beautiful, but it also smells wonderfully floral. The forest in this area consists mainly of conifers. You will also find a pond here that was built on the spot where bunkers from the First World War were located.
