Description
Around Hoogerheide you can take a nice walk through the woods of the Brabantse Wal. You also descend this moraine into the polder.
Dome forest
The route starts at the western edge of Hoogerheide. You will soon pass the Koepelbos. Around the dome to which this grove gets its name, there are a number of beech trees that are locally called the Seven Sisters. From the edge of this forest you have a beautiful view of the bird-rich Noordpolder. On the edge of De Bunt you walk on a path that takes you past the trenches where the bloody Battle of Woensdrecht was fought in October 1944.
Abbey woods
Further on you walk into the Abbey woods. They are thirty meters higher than the Noordpolder you were looking at earlier! In this forest you will find Austrian pine, birch and elder.
