Description
In the southwest of South Holland you will find the island of Voorne-Putten, which is connected to the rest of the province by bridges. This bike tour takes you through this area, which consists of sea polders, dunes and historical sights.
Protected nature
The seaside resort of Rockanje forms the starting point of this route. From here you cycle along the edge of the Voornes Duin nature reserve to Oostvoorne. The dune area is a protected nature reserve with a rich flora and fauna. Snails, moths and breeding birds such as the spoonbill feel particularly at home in this area. You can admire this beautiful area from a distance by bike. Then you can take a look at Molen Oostvoorne from 1821 and a little further on the route you will find the Museum in den Halven Maen. In this museum you will find all kinds of nostalgic utensils and, for example, an old grocery shop has been recreated. Imagine yourself here in earlier times and don't forget to stock up on some tasty sweets in the nostalgic sweet shop.
