Description

The Veluwe is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. This route takes you through the forests and other beautiful landscapes of the Veluwe in the Otterlo area. You cycle along the edges of De Hoge Veluwe National Park and along the way you can enjoy forest areas and heathlands.

Forests, heathlands and drifting sands
The first part of this route takes you to Otterlo, a green and hospitable village in the middle of the Veluwe. From here you can cycle straight into nature to the hamlet of Oud-Reemst and further in the direction of Arnhem. On either side of the cycle path you will find extensive forest areas, heathlands and drifting sands that the Veluwe is rich in. Clear your head completely and enjoy all the beauty around you. If you are lucky, you might spot a wild animal such as a red deer or a wild boar. After cycling for more than 28 kilometers you set course for Hoenderloo. This village was founded in 1839 from a number of sod huts.
