Walking through nature near Prinsenbeek

From Brasserie Boschdal you set off through the countryside of Prinsenbeek. First you walk along leafy paths past meadows and fields. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for a leisurely chat with your fellow walkers. From the Polderweg you look out to the right of the path at Weimeren, a strip of land where peat was still extracted until the Second World War. Now it is a bird-rich nature reserve with unspoilt grasslands, marshes and ponds. Just past junction 61 you walk along an unpaved path along the Mark. This river has its source in the Turnhout fen area. At Standdaarbuiten the Mark turns into the Dintel, after which the river flows into the Oosterschelde via the Volkerak. Back at Boschdal it is time for a delicious lunch.
