Vennbahn
Start: Heerlen, duration: 3 days, spend the night at Friends on the bike.
From Heerlen station I cycled to Aachen. That is a short stretch and more or less a straight road. The Vennbahn starts in Aachen, the old railway line that was in use around 1900 and caused a revival for the economy on the entire route to northern Luxembourg.
For example, you can spend the night in Malmedy after about 80 km or at Friends on the Bicycle in Recht after 100 km. It is convenient to spend the night in the Waimes area because two bicycle railway lines, the Vennbahn and Ligne 15, converge in Waimes. So I left my luggage at my guest address and cycled further down the Vennbahn to Troisvierges. In Troisvierges I took the train to Trois Ponts. In Trois Ponts starts that other bicycle railway line, Ligne 15, which is beautiful and ends in Waimes and you are back at your accommodation address.
After Waimes you can choose to cycle back on the Vennbahn or cycle through the vast and deserted nature reserve in Belgium towards Aachen. Parc Naturel Des Haute Fagnes.
