The charm of the Bommelerwaard

In the Bommelerwaard you will find everything that makes your cyclist's heart beat faster: peace, space and a rich cultural history. As you drive out of Aalst along the Maasdijk, you immediately see some old monumental farms. What a beautiful start to your route! At the Afgedamde Maas you pass the Gebr. Remmerde, a hexagonal flour mill from 1716. Further on you will pass Ammersoyen Castle, one of the best preserved authentic medieval castles in the Netherlands. In the vast polder it is nice to get a breath of fresh air between the grasslands and fruit orchards. You can also fully enjoy nature along the Waal. Brakel Castle is a beautiful ruin from 1672. You take a trip to Loevestein Castle, after which you drive back to your comfortable holiday home at Bed and Breakfast Oan d\\\'n Kikkerdijk.
