Bommelerwaard
From Gameren you leave in a westerly direction and cycle along the Waal. The Bommelerwaard is also called river island: surrounded by the Waal and the Maas, this beautiful area is characterized by many attractions. Consider, for example, historic churches and castles, but you also cycle through picturesque villages and over winding dikes. Enjoy all the natural beauty that this area has to offer. De Bommelerwaard is a landlord named after Bommel, the local name for Zaltbommel.
With the ferry
Via Nieuwaal, Zuilichem and Brakel you cycle to the Battery under Brakel, built to protect Loevestein Castle and the town of Woudrichem. Via Polderoijensehoek you cycle eastwards towards Andel en Veen. With the ferry you cross from Veen de Afgedamde Maas to Aalst. A nice extra during this cycling route! You follow the contours of the Driesche Wetering to Kerkwijk and through the polder you cycle to the final destination of the route.
