From De Alde Feanen into the polder

Your route starts at Princenhof, Hotel & Restaurant . A beautiful starting point on the edge of the Frisian village of Earnewâld, right in the heart of De Alde Feanen. In this low peat swamp you look out over lakes, ditches, reedlands and shrubs. It is wonderfully quiet here. This is probably because everyone is so impressed by this beautiful area. In Suawoude you will pass a typically beautiful and old Frisian church: the twelfth-century St. George's Church. A little later you drive into the Buitenveld. In this nature reserve you will see grasslands, swamp forests, open water ponds and extensive reed and brush fields. It is still wonderfully quiet here. In Veenwouden you can see the Schierstins: a striking fourteenth-century residential tower. Back at Princenhof, Hotel & Restaurant you will enjoy a meal and a comfortable overnight stay.
