It is wonderful to cycle through the forests and old hamlets around Someren. You will find a soothing peace, but also a lot of cultural history.
The Keijepoal
Den Evert is the first attraction on your route. This former ban mill of Postel Abbey originally dates from 1543. In 1978 the mill was moved to its current location. On the Kerkendijk in Someren-Heide you can admire the Keijepoal: a high seventeenth-century border marker between Staats-Brabant and Spanish Upper Gelre. In the Weerterbos you will find another reminder from this period: a monument for the border church that stood here from 1650 to 1712.
Strabrechtse Heide
In the forest of De Pan you will pass a former farm and inn from 1831. Here a monument has been placed in memory of the crew of an English bomber that crashed in 1943. In Sterksel you can visit the Peter van den Brakencentrum, a museum for figurative Brabant painting from the twentieth century. On the Strabrechtse Heide you can see what large parts of North Brabant used to be like. The route ends at Boscafé De Soete Inval.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
