Edese Heide
You soon enter the Edese Bos. Here you immediately experience the characteristic tranquility of the Veluwe. Delicious! On the vast Edese Heide you have the chance to come face to face with a grazing herd of Veluwe Heide sheep. In the early 1950s, steps were taken to save this breed from extinction - with success.
Planks doublet
In the vast coniferous forests and heathlands of Planken Wambuis, civilization seems very far away. At junction 13 in Hoenderloo you see the monumental well from 1843 that Reverend Otto Heldring had dug for the poor villagers living in sod huts. You drive through the woods to Otterlo, a cozy and beautiful village. Then you cycle into the woods again.
