Tour of the IJssel Valley and Zwolle

This cycle route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel Mercure Zwolle. In the IJssel valley you can enjoy the beautiful floodplain landscape. You will pass through picturesque towns such as Wijhe and Olst, where you can still clearly see the authenticity of the region. Along the way, take a break at the Geological Museum De IJsselvallei, open for free on the second Saturday and Sunday of the month. Here you will find a private collection of erratic boulders, soil profiles and fossils from the eastern Netherlands. The finds mainly come from the IJssel valley, where the IJssel now flows: this valley was formed in the Third Ice Age, when a glacier eroded the valley. You cycle back to your starting point right through the beautiful historic Hanseatic town of Zwolle. Enjoy the atmosphere and perhaps do some shopping!
