Tour of the IJsselvallei and Zwolle

This cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel Mercure Zwolle. In the IJssel valley you can enjoy the beautiful floodplain landscape. You will pass through picturesque towns such as Wijhe and Olst, where you can still clearly see the authenticity of the region. Stop off en route at De IJsselvallei Geological Museum, open for free on the second Saturday and Sunday of the month. Here you will find a private collection of boulders, soil profiles and fossils from the eastern Netherlands. The finds mainly come from the IJsseldal, where the IJssel flows today: this valley was formed in the Third Ice Age, when a glacier carved out the valley. You cycle straight through the beautiful historic Hanseatic town of Zwolle back to your starting point. Enjoy a taste of the atmosphere and maybe do some shopping!
