Tour Borger and Odoorn

A day in Drenthe is best experienced by bike. This route takes you through Borger and the surrounding area. You start the route at De Kippesthee Koffie & Thee. Grab a seat on a terrace here before cycling to Odoorn. Here you will see Saxon farms and the beautiful Margarethakerk. Then you cycle through Boswachterij Odoorn. Take a deep breath and sniff that lovely fresh forest air! A little later you cycle through another vast and quiet nature reserve: Boswachterij Gieten-Borger. Just before Drouwen you will pass hunebed D19. In Borger you will pass hunebed D27, the largest in the Netherlands. The Hunebedcentrum is nearby, an interesting stop. You cycle through the forests to Exloo and Valthe. Just before getting off you can eat something at Buffetrestaurant Thijs en Aafke.
