Drenthe is a real cycling gem. You will find plenty of peace, natural beauty and beautiful old buildings. This route takes you through the area around Odoorn and Orvelte, the famous museum village.
Saxon farms
Before boarding you can take a look at the Margaretha Church. The choir dates from the twelfth century, and the building layer, up to about four meters high, consists of granite boulders. Along the way you will see some Saxon farms. You will also pass the Schoonoord Korenmolen, the remains of a mill from 1854.
Orvelte Open Air Museum
The village of Orvelte, which is more than a thousand years old, is home to many historical sights. A number of old buildings show how craftsmen lived and worked in earlier times. Extra nice: Orvelte is car-free! In Boswachterij Odoorn with its vast heathland you experience the characteristic Drenthe silence. Step off for a moment to let the tranquility take effect.
