Drentse Fiets4Daagse 40 km Route Thursday 2017

Today all routes go to the museum village of Orvelte. It is very worthwhile to take a look at the village. From there you go via Witteveen in the direction of Oud Aalden. A village with old farms and the Jantina Helling mill (.... km). Here you go in the direction of Meppen. Past the De Bronzen Emmer recreation park and then towards Gees. On the way you will pass a pumping station on the left. On the right is a water storage facility where the water is first collected in the event of a lot of rain, after which it gradually ends up in the Geeserstroom nature reserve behind it. When you arrive in Gees, there is an ice cream parlor where you can enjoy delicious ice cream.
If you then head towards Nieuw-Balinge, you will pass the Geeserstroom nature reserve again, where the meadows were returned to nature in the early 2000s. The route then goes through one of the beautiful forests (approx. 1600 ha) of Drenthe, and you arrive in the village of Nieuw-Balinge. Then through and along the unique Mantingerzand nature reserve with old juniper forests and sand drifts.
Through Mantinge where the recently deceased cartoonist Jan Kruis lived and then along the beautiful nature reserve the Mantingerbos.
From there the last stretch via Eursinge to Westerbork
