Description
Near Asten you can take a detour through the outer area of De Peel. A nice walk that you can easily take just before or after dinner.
The Peel
You walk through the typical heath reclamation landscape that characterizes De Peel: a mix of forests, moist areas and agricultural land. First you walk a bit through a small-scale coniferous forest. You can walk here at your leisure.
Bird watching
A little later you walk on an unpaved path through the open agricultural area towards the Aa, a river that runs just east of the Zuid-Willemsvaart. You will experience a refreshing tranquility here. Ideal for recharging the proverbial battery and for catching up with your fellow hikers. Near the end point you might spot deer, they are common. Grand Café Restaurant De Drie Reeën owes its name to it!
