Breda is not only a pleasant, but also a beautiful old city. This walk takes you through the historical center.
House of Brecht
Besides beautiful buildings, you will immediately see the fifteenth-century Grote Kerk. Further on, you will see Breda Castle from 1353. The Huis van Brecht is another historical picture: it dates from the fourteenth century.
Old Harbour
You pass the old harbour with its beautiful buildings. Between 1965 and 2007 the harbour was filled in, fortunately it has now been restored to its former glory. You walk up the colourful Haagdijk, the oldest shopping street in Breda. At junction 95 you see the Sint-Annakerk, a neo-Gothic cruciform basilica from 1904. On the leafy Singel you see the Hirdesbrug, a monument from 1905. In the Ginnekenstraat you pass the Sint-Joostkapel on the right: it originally dates from 1436!
