The Markermeer from Enkhuizen

The route starts at the village of Schellinkhout. You cycle into the West Frisian polder, occasionally you see an authentic farmhouse. You drive through Hoogkarspel, further on you pass through De Weelen. In this rugged nature reserve you can see what West Friesland looked like before the reclamation. In the city center of Enkhuizen you will see many picturesque streets with old buildings. You will pass the Drommedaris, the iconic city gate from 1657. You drive out of Enkhuizen along the harbor. From the dike you have beautiful views over the Markermeer. In Schellinkhout you will pass the old village church and the beautiful monumental town hall from 1765.
