Provided by: route.nl
Your route starts at Kruijswijk Tweewielers in Castricum. You'll soon enter the North Holland Dune Reserve, one of the Netherlands' largest nature reserves. If you'd like to learn more about this unique area, first stop by the De Hoep Visitor Center. The route passes right by it. Inland, you'll see some remarkable windmills. A beautiful cycle path leads you straight through the dunes to the nineteenth-century Varnebroeker mill. The nine-meter-high mill was moved from its original location a few years ago for restoration work by a millwright. With a new screw and new sails, it stands proud once again. Along the banks of the Limmergat and Uitgeestermeer lakes, you'll cycle back to Castricum, passing the Woudaap: a beautiful polder mill dating from 1651.
