Description

Along the Frisian Lakes you can enjoy historic villages and views over the water. This route takes you past the Tjeukemeer and the Sneekermeer.

Storm surge
The first kilometers you cycle along the banks of the Tjeukemeer, the largest Frisian inland lake. Here you can enjoy the views over the water and the tranquility. According to tradition, the water swallowed the church and cemetery of Rohel during a storm surge.

In Goingarijp you can admire the church building from 1770. In the bell tower next to it hangs a bell from 1527. In Sint-Nicolaasga you will pass a Catholic church from 1887, which is rare in this region. A final attraction is the former Gemaal van Echten, a monument from 1913.
