Walking through Utrecht

This beautiful route takes you for a walk through the park-rich east of the city of Utrecht. You will pass many places of interest, such as monumental buildings, Fort de Bilt and the Mart van Schijndelhuis.

Stadsbuitengracht
Further on you walk along the Stadsbuitengracht. This canal around the old city center dates from the twelfth century. The Zocherpark is located along large parts of the canal, where you can enjoy a lovely walk in the green.

Fort de Bilt
You walk into the old center, to the Mart van Schijndelhuis, an architectural masterpiece that is on the list of monuments. You will also pass the Pieterskerk from 1048: it is one of the oldest churches in the Netherlands. You will see many eighteenth-century houses on the Kromme Nieuwegracht. What a wonderful atmosphere! Walking on the famous seventeenth-century Maliebaan is also a treat. At the end of your route you pass Fort de Bilt from 1819.
