Description

From Zee-eeterij De Viskêête you can explore the Zak van Zuid-Beveland, known for its beautiful flower dikes. You will discover the Western Scheldt, Oosterschelde, medieval Goes and the lovely Yerseke. First you cycle to Goes, where you will find plenty of nice cafes and terraces to grab a cup of coffee. Goes was founded in the tenth century on the edge of a creek. The town grew into an important trading center, especially in the first centuries. During the Eighty Years' War, a fortress was built along the city. Just outside's-Gravenpolder you pass the Korenhalm, a corn mill from 1876. Then you follow a stretch of De Weel, a former tidal channel that came to lie within the dikes in 1649. You cycle along the Western Scheldt to Hansweert, where you continue to beautiful Yerseke.
