Short detour Speulderbos

Fancy a walk around the block? This walk takes you along the edge of Garderen, through the Speulderbos. Perfect for a breath of fresh air!

Woodpecker
The route takes you through the Speulderbos, one of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the Netherlands. In this primeval forest, nature is still allowed to take its course. You regularly hear a woodpecker enthusiastically drumming on the trees. In the sand next to the path you sometimes see that the ground has been turned up by wild boars.

Mysterious forest
You see glossy firs, gnarled oaks and tall ferns. Where Douglas firs and Norway spruces mainly grow, the dark forest becomes mysterious. Just above Garderen it slopes a bit, nice for a change. You may also come across the sheep herd from the Sheepfold of Boeschoten, which grazes here during the day.
