The dense forests of the Veluwe hide many gems, such as beautiful old sheepfolds. The Speulderbos is a varied forest where nature is allowed to take its course. It is known as the 'forest of dancing trees': only the straight trunks have been cut down. On plots with Scots pine, birch and oak you see a beautiful play of light and shadow. In Putten you cycle past the fifteenth-century village church, which is a sight to behold. You cross through a rural area above Voorthuizen, back to the dense forests of the Veluwe. Here you pass the Boeschoten Sheepfold. This elongated authentic sheepfold offers shelter to a flock of sheep that grazes the Veluwe and the Speulderbos during the day. Stop off in Voorthuizen at Restaurant De Bunckman for a snack or a drink!
