From Hoenderloo, you'll ride straight into the Veluwe's natural beauty. Vast forests and heathlands make this route a wonderfully relaxing day out. Cycling here seems to flow effortlessly. Just after junction 71, you can stop for a short walk onto the Kootwijkerzand, the largest drifting sand area in Western Europe. Further on, you'll pass the village of Kootwijkerzand. On the right, you'll see, among other things, the 16th-century village church. At junction 40, you'll pass Radio Kootwijk, built in the 1920s for radiotelegraphic contact with the then Dutch East Indies. The area surrounding the former transmitter is a protected village view. In Hoog Buurlo, you'll see several old farmhouses in a picturesque landscape. The route concludes with a meal at De Proeftuin Hoenderloo.
