Description
From Apeldoorn you can easily cycle into the Veluwe. That means a wonderful day in nature, but also experiencing cultural history at museums.
Deelen Air Base You can already see the edge of the city here, so you cycle straight into the woods to Hoenderloo and the entrance to De Hoge Veluwe National Park. Further afield you can visit Deelen Air Base Museum at the weekend. During the Second World War this was the largest German airfield in the Netherlands. After the war, the First Canadian Army left more than 37,000 vehicles here.
Apeldoorn Just past the airport you pass the gliding airfield. The route leads you further through the rolling heathland and forests for which the Veluwe is known. You cycle back into Apeldoorn via the beautiful Beekbergen. You will pass the CODA Museum, where exhibitions focus on jewelry and paper art. In the city center you will see countless Art Nouveau facades, it is worth taking a break!
