From Urk through the Noordoostpolder

The old centre of Urk enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful historical atmosphere here. In Museum Het Oude Raadhuis you will learn more about the special history of this former Zuiderzee island. Then you can blow out for kilometres along the IJsselmeer. On the right you will pass the Urkerbos and the neatly parcelled agricultural lands. In the Noordoostpolder you will experience a wonderful peace in the vast landscape. Now that is great cycling. The Kuinderbos, the largest and oldest forest in the Noordoostpolder. The hundreds of thousands of young trees that were planted here after hard work have resulted in a beautifully varied forest. Get off for a moment to look at the soil here: between the trees you can still find shell remains from the Zuiderzee. The route starts and ends at Restaurant De Kaap, where you can enjoy a bite to eat from the menu.
