From Urk through the Noordoostpolder

The old center of Urk enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful historic atmosphere here. In Museum Het Oude Raadhuis you can learn more about the special history of this former Zuiderzee island. Then you can get a breath of fresh air for miles along the IJsselmeer. On the right you pass the Urkerbos and the tightly parceled agricultural land. In the Noordoostpolder you will experience a wonderful tranquility in the wide landscape. That's nice cycling. A green surprise also awaits you: the Kuinderbos, the largest and oldest forest in the Noordoostpolder. The hundreds of thousands of saplings that have been planted here after hard work have resulted in a beautifully varied forest. Get off to look at the bottom here: shell remains from the Zuiderzee can still be found between the trees.
