Shift down
Veere is one of the most picturesque fortified towns in the Netherlands, but the surrounding area is also well worth a visit. Here you walk through the quiet polders of the Walcheren Canal to the Veerse Kreek and the Vest van Veere. The creek with its many foothills was created at the end of the Second World War during the inundation of Walcheren. Today it is a quiet and beautiful nature reserve where it is wonderful to walk.
The Four Scissors
In Veere, drop by the town hall with its beautiful facade from the fifteenth century: it houses the Town Hall Museum De Vierspoel. The carillon in the tower has been voted one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands. All those historic buildings soon tempt you to slow down.
