Nature route Essen

The Zoom-Kalmthoutse Heide border park guarantees a day of cycling fun. Get your legs moving in the Wildertse Duintjes: a diverse nature reserve with woods, clearings, and shrubs. You'll continue through the Maatjes Nature Reserve, a cross-border marshland reed landscape. Nearby, take a break at Brasserie De Bosrust! Then, on the Dutch side of the border, you'll cycle straight through the woods. Take a break at the Watermolenbeek Environmental Education Centre (MEC) on the beautiful Visdonk Estate, just outside Roosendaal. Here you'll learn all about the unique environment. The Visdonk Estate already existed in the seventeenth century, and in summer, beautiful gentians bloom around the Rosenven. Just before the end of the route, you can catch a glimpse of the historic College of the Eucharistic Heart, nestled in the woods.
