Description
The Kalmthoutse Heide is one of the well-known nature reserves in Flanders. And not without reason: you can enjoy cycling through the woods and the vast heathland.
The Vrent
Soon after boarding, you will pass Nature Education Center De Vroente. This center is the main entrance to the Kalmthoutse Heide. You can visit exhibitions that teach you more about the local nature. A little later you drive onto the vast moorland. Heather and heather grow there. Sheep also graze to keep the heath short. You pass a number of fens. Step off to enjoy the silence and natural beauty.
The Zoom
When you drive out of the woods, you cross the border to Huibergen. Here you pass a former monastery complex from the thirteenth century. Only the gatehouse from 1610 remains of this complex, which houses the Wilhelmietenmuseum: well worth a visit. Further on you drive back into the woods. The landscape suddenly slopes here, because you drive onto the Brabantse Wal. What a beautiful area!

Height Profile
The Noordertuin of Antwerp is a beautiful green area to the north of Antwerp. Get on your bike or put on your walking shoes and hit the road in this area to completely unwind a stone's throw from the busy city. Hidden among the greenery are special forts from the First World War and you will find many more beautiful things here.
