Let the Stigterpad 2017

The Let de Stigterpad is a west-east (and east-west) cycling connection across the spine of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.

In terms of nature experience, the path can safely be called the 'top of Utrecht'. You cycle through and past extensive forests, heaths, burial mounds, castles, sand drifts, fens, floodplains with a river and views. It is unique that moraine and river valley are so close to each other. This does not happen anywhere else in the Netherlands. The route is hilly in the middle part.

The Let de Stigterpad connects to the train stations of Driebergen and Rhenen. So you can start in Driebergen and cycle to Rhenen to take the train there or start in Rhenen and take the train in Driebergen.

At the end of 2016, the last missing links in the bicycle connection were connected, the cycle path was connected to the cycle junction system and the recognizability of the cycle route was optimized. The new sign'Starting point Let de Stigterpad\\\' at the parking lot on the Bergweg in Maarn marks the Utrechtse Heuvelrug in the eastern longitudinal direction for eighteen kilometers. The western cycling section from the'starting point sign\\\' (Maarn - Driebergen) will be further adjusted.

The Let de Stigterpad is named after Mrs AD de Stigter-Huising, former mayor of Maarn. She was the advocate for the creation and first chairman of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.
