A windmill with a special story, a stopover at a nice tea garden, a view over the Western Scheldt... a wonderful walk! Especially in the summer, when the wild flowers on the dikes are in bloom.
Wild marjoram
The Zak van Zuid-Beveland is known for the beautiful dikes around polders and former tidal creeks where wild flowers grow: the so-called flower dikes. While walking you can enjoy the summer scents and colors of agrimoni, earth field or wild marjoram. And of the tranquility!
Windmill blown over
The route starts and ends at the Hope and Expectation windmill. This mill was built on site by the town carpenter/mill maker of the municipality of Goes after the post windmill had blown over in a storm on February 27, 1714. The municipality owned the Borsselse polder from 1616 and had always planned a corn mill. Parts of the previous mill have been used in'De Hoop en Expectation\\\', such as parts of stab tires and sawn wooden rods.
