Description

You start just outside Vlagtwedde. You soon drive right through it to Onstwedde, another nice little village. Further on you first pass through Nieuwe and then through Oude Pekela, both named after the small river Pekel A, which takes its name from the salinized water. Old and New Pekela are typical peat colonies as you find so many here. It used to be one elongated village along the water - the peat was mainly transported by water. Via Veelerveen you drive through the wide Groningen polder back to your starting point.
