Description
Fancy a nice walk? Go for a walk in the nature reserve Het Schuitwater and experience how wonderfully quiet it is here. You will also pass through Broekhuizen, a charming village on the Maas.
The Schuitwater
You will soon enter the Schuitwater nature reserve: a varied landscape of forests and damp grasslands and hayfields, formed around the remains of several old Maas arms.
The Maas
You cross over to the Maas, a beautiful route through the greenery. With a view of the nice Arcen on the other side of the river you walk to Broekhuizen. Here you see a few beautiful monumental buildings, such as the eighteenth-century Brouwershuis on the Veerweg and the Sint-Nicolaaskerk from 1500. Via the drier northern part of the Schuitwater you walk back to your starting point, along vast heathlands. What a beautiful varied route!
