Walking through Voornes Duin

Voornes Duin is one of the richest dune areas in Western Europe. You can fully enjoy all this natural beauty on Voorne-Putten on foot.

Tenellaplas
The route starts at Restaurant Paviljoen De Meidoorn, in the middle of the Voornes Duin nature reserve. A beautiful place to have a drink and something to eat before you hit the road. You walk a bit along the Tenellaplas, which was dug in 1949 as a nature restoration project. A native garden has been created in the visitor center with the released sand. You will find all biotopes from Voornes Duin here. The witchfish, or Anagallis tenella, also grows there: the namesake of the lake.

The Biberbunker
The path then leads you through forest and dunes to a viewpoint on a dune top. Here you have a beautiful panorama of the Slikken van Voorne. Further on you will pass the Biberbunker, which was used as a radar command post by the German air force during the Second World War. From here actions were taken to intercept Allied bombers on their way to Germany. You walk back through the woods to De Meidoorn, how wonderfully quiet it is here!
