Description
The North Holland Dune Reserve is a real must. For example, discover the oldest nature reserve here, Bakkum Estate. But special nature can also be seen outside the reserve, in former agricultural areas such as Zeerijpsdijkje.
North Holland Dune Reserve
Near the nice old village of Bakkum you walk through the former Bakkum Estate, from which the North Holland Dune Reserve was created in about a hundred years. You will find a beautiful dune lake with the appropriate name Meertje van Vogelenzang - numerous birds are found here, such as the kingfisher and bittern. If you want to know more about this area, visit the De Hoep Visitor Center, the route passes close by.
Zeerijsdijkje
Bakkum has been a popular holiday destination for Amsterdam residents for over a hundred years, but it is also beautiful here outside the summer. Find some peace and quiet in special nature reserves such as Zeerijpsdijkje, just off the beaten track. This former agricultural area is now a poor grassland with moist and dry areas, where plants such as marsh marigold, reed orchid and cuckoo flower can be seen.
