Walking route Castricum

This walking route offers you plenty of variety. First you walk through the old heart of Castricum. You will see some beautiful monumental buildings here. Just past junction 17 you can walk onto the Kerkpad to view the old village church. This originally dates from the eleventh century. A little later you walk a bit through the dunes. You will pass the Papenberg lookout tower. From the top you look out over a beautiful dune landscape with centuries-old history. Think of the Battle of Castricum or the Oer-IJ that once flowed here. Back in Castricum you can take a break at Snackbistro de Toren. After your meal you walk through a number of parks and along the edge of the vast polders. Get some fresh air and have a coffee at De Toren.
