French, Prussian, Dutch: there has been some shopping back and forth with Wehl over time. But this ancient village is above all Achterhoeks!
Saint Martin's Church
This village has a rich history: Wehl was already mentioned around 1200. The tuff stone parts of the tower of St Martin's Church also date from this time. The monument was renovated for the last time in the early twentieth century, in neo-Gothic style.
Broeklanden Wehl
In the countryside it is wonderful to walk through the Wehlse Broeklanden. You walk over sand ridges, past farms and along hedges. How wonderfully quiet it is here! Ideal for charging the proverbial battery. After walking you can stock up on something to nibble at Landwinkel De Verse Kers: you have tasty Achterhoek regional products and fresh fruit, such as home-grown cherries.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
