Description

From Castricum you can drive straight into the vast Dutch countryside. You cycle a bit along the Alkmaardermeer, after which you drive through the Schermerpolder. In Zuidschermer you can admire the Zwarte Kerkje from 1665, one of the few remaining bell-shaped churches. On the Hoornse Vaart you will pass four monumental ironing mills from 1630. On the left you look out over the Oudorperhout, a unique meadow area in the middle of the city. In the center of Alkmaar you can enjoy the historic atmosphere, after which you can take a look at the Pulpit Rock, an old moraine. According to tradition, the monk Willibrordus preached here centuries ago to spread Christianity. In Egmond aan den Hoef you pass a castle ruin, and through the North Holland Dune Reserve you drive to Snackbistro de Toren for a delicious meal!
