Description
A very varied round with forests and height differences and cycling (back) over the dike along the Lower Rhine. You will take a ferry, so take some change with you.
The furthest point is junction 36. This is near Rhenen, a place to take a break (you have to go up the hill ;-).
It seems logical to take the ferry back to Amerongen at Eck en Wiel. You can indeed do that, because Amerongen is a very nice place. But do not cross the dike from Amerongen to Wijk bij Duurstede, because there is a lot of traffic and also many motorcycle groups. This really bothers you. Unfortunately, because it is a nice dike. So along the south side of the Lower Rhine. Beautiful views, beautiful Dutch landscape.
Tip: when you return to Wijk bij Duurstede, take a look at (the ruins of) the castle on the other side. Wijk bij Duurstede is a nice place to relax on a terrace or in a café or restaurant after the bike ride.
