Cycling through the Alblasserwaard

Old Alblas
The route starts at Het Wapen van Alblasserdam, an authentic location at the marina of Alblasserdam. From here you cycle along the river De Alblas to Oud-Alblas, a picturesque village where you can still find the atmosphere of times gone by. A little later you cycle into the characteristic polder landscape of the Alblasserwaard. From the dikes you look out over vast meadows that are crossed by countless ditches. How wonderfully quiet it is here!

Along the Lek
Along the way you will come across sights such as old farms. And of course mills! Just before Groot-Ammers you walk along the Molenkade past four polder mills. The quartet forms a beautiful Dutch picture. The Gelkenes Molen and the Achterlandse Molen are the oldest, they date from 1596. It is also wonderful to walk along the Lekdijk. At the end of your walk, give your legs a rest at Het Wapen van Alblasserdam, you have earned a delicious meal!
