Cycling through the Alblasserwaard

Cycle this route through the Alblasserwaard. A route full of views and sights.

Old Alblas
The route starts at Het Wapen van Alblasserdam, an authentic location at the Alblasserdam marina. From here you cycle along the river De Alblas to Oud-Alblas, a picturesque village where you will still find the atmosphere of times gone by. A little later you cycle into the characteristic polder landscape of the Alblasserwaard. From the dikes you look out over vast meadows that are crossed by countless ditches. How wonderfully peaceful it is here!

Along the Lek
Along the way you will encounter sights such as old farms. And of course windmills! Just before Groot-Ammers you walk along the Molenkade past four polder mills. The quartet forms a beautiful Dutch picture. The Gelkenes Mill and the Achterlandse Molen are the oldest, dating from 1596. The Lekdijk is also a lovely walk. At the end of your tour, rest your legs at Het Wapen van Alblasserdam, you have earned a nice meal!
