A versatile route around Gouda

From Boulevard Nesselande, you can enjoy a beautiful bike ride through South Holland. You'll cycle along waterways, through the Reeuwijkse Plassen lakes, and through historic towns like Gouda.

Picturesque Moordrecht
At Boulevard Nesselande on the Zevenhuizerplas lake, you can first enjoy a drink and a bite to eat at one of the charming terraces. Along the Hollandse IJssel river, you'll pass Windlust, a beautiful grain mill dating back to 1776. From the dike along the river, you'll have beautiful views. On the horizon, you can see Moordrecht approaching. This town is a protected village, and you can soak up the historic atmosphere at your leisure.

Characteristic Gouda
Gouda also boasts a wealth of cultural history, with its old town center boasting a high percentage of characteristic, historic buildings. Beautiful wooden quays and reed banks line the Reeuwijkse Plassen lakes. The rectangular shape of the lakes reflects how the former peatlands were parceled out. The peat was used, among other things, by potteries and breweries in Gouda. You'll cycle back to the starting point of your route through the expansive polder.
