Cycling through the area around Nieuwkoop

You loosen up your legs along the Kromme Mijdrecht. On the other side of this river you see the Westveense Molen, a polder mill from 1676. The hamlet of Woerdense Verlaat was built at the lock in the Grecht that was already constructed in 1448. The route then leads you through the polder with its elongated grasslands and ditches. Zegveld was only opened up in the sixties by the construction of good roads. Here you can still experience the authentic atmosphere of the past. The Meijepad runs straight through the Nieuwkoopse Plassen, where you have a beautiful view of this unique nature reserve. At  Along the Kromme Mijdrecht you drive back to the car park.
