On the banks of the Rhine, you have a beautiful view of the tower of the fifteenth-century Cunera Church in Rhenen. It's wonderfully peaceful cycling among the many orchards and flower-filled meadows. Through the Betuwe region, you'll cycle to Amerongen, a beautiful village at the foot of the Utrecht Hill Ridge. The highlight of the route is Amerongen Castle, which originally dates back to 1286. Here, German Emperor Wilhelm II signed the form renouncing his imperial position. Nearby, you'll pass through the protected village of Amerongen, home to many beautiful historic buildings. Just outside the village, you'll cycle into the woods on the Amerongse Berg. What tranquility! Under the canopy, it's wonderfully cool on warm days.
