Description

Your route starts at Holiday Park De Thijmse Berg. On the banks of the Rhine you have a beautiful view of the tower of the fifteenth-century Cunera Church in Rhenen. It is wonderfully peaceful to cycle between the many fruit orchards and flowery meadows. Via the Betuwe you drive to Amerongen, a beautiful village at the foot of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The highlight of the route is Amerongen Castle, which originally dates from 1286. Here the German Emperor Wilhelm II signed the form with which he renounced his imperial position. Nearby you pass through the protected villagescape of Amerongen. You will see many beautiful monumental buildings here. Just outside the village you cycle into the woods on the Amerongse Berg. What a silence! It is wonderfully cool under the canopy on hot days.
