Description
The Brabant village of Etten-Leur consists of two old ribbon villages: Etten and Leur. This walk takes you through the old ribbon village of Etten. Lace up your walking shoes and enjoy the historic atmosphere at your leisure.
Etten Market
At the old market square in Etten, you'll see several beautiful national monuments, such as the Town Hall from 1776. Huis De Zwaan (House De Zwaan) dates back to 1628. The Sint-Paulushofje (St. Paul's Almshouse) was founded in 1681. It houses the Jan uten Houte Regional History Museum, a wonderful place to learn more about regional history. At the end of the market square stands the St. Catherine's Church, a medieval hall church with a tower dating from 1771.
The Withof
Further on, you can stop at Pancake House Het Regiment. Enjoy a pancake or other delicious treat at your leisure. Huize Adama was originally a noble manor house surrounded by a moat. Since 1820, it has been part of De Withof, a former monastery dating back to the sixteenth century. De Bisschopsmolen is a beautiful grain mill dating from 1744.
