A Burgundian walk through the Geleenbeek valley

You start the route in the Stammenderbos, a nature reserve through which the Geleenbeek flows. Make sure you wear good shoes, because the path can be damp at the stream. After a while you pass the centuries-old Terborgh Castle. Around the eighteenth century, members of the infamous De Bokkenrijders were imprisoned in this former moated castle . T he Mulderplas is a former swamp area where the State mines once discharged the polluted rinse water used to wash the coal. After a break at Brasserie De Muldermolen you walk up the Krekelberg, a hill that is over 100 meters high. Above Schinnen you enter the Wolfhagerbos, this poplar and willow forest is intersected by the Kakkert stream. Brasserie Abshoven is the second pit stop on your route. You walk along the Geleenbeek to the end point.
