Nice long route over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

After you have jumped on the saddle, you cycle straight into the seemingly endless forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The fact that so many country houses have been built on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug is of course not without reason. It has been wonderful to stay here in nature for centuries. Near Bunnik you can see Fort Rijnauwen from 1869. With 32 hectares, this was the largest fortress from the New Dutch Waterline. On the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug you come past the old Den Treek estate with its beautiful monumental buildings near Amersfoort. Further on you come along the Zeisterweg past the Pyramid of Austerlitz, a lookout tower. You also pass Austerlitz, a village that arose in the early 1800s around an army camp of French soldiers.
