This cycling tour through
Het Land van de Hilver starts at
Natuurpoort de Reuselhoeve . The Land of Hilver is the land of seven Burgundian village centres, such as Oisterwijk and Hilvarenbeek. An area with a rich past, which can be experienced in the many museums, monumental buildings and the hospitable residents who still radiate this.
The route leads on the north side through the Oisterwijkse Bossen and Fens . The many fens in this beautiful nature reserve date from the last ice age and were usually formed by the wind. The nutrient-rich area makes it a true bird paradise. The southern part of the route leads past Natuurpoort, the Spoordonkse Watermolen and through the Baest Estate . This estate covers approximately 500 hectares, largely consisting of forests, meadows and water features. An enclave: the main house and various restored outbuildings together form an idyllic, originally medieval settlement. The attractive House in Baest, built in the early 16th century and adapted in the 18th century, is surrounded by a historic garden.
Also discover Natuurpoort de Reuselhoeve . There you can experience nature from the ground, in the air and on the water! From the lookout tower you have a wide view of the Hilver and Moergestels Broek nature reserves, where you can enjoy beautiful walks. The first mention of this former flood area dates from 1349. Around 1950, the Moergestels Broek was reclaimed and drained to make agriculture possible. The Moergestels Broek is now a nature reserve again and is managed by Natuurmonumenten. Or what about a climbing course between the trees or canoeing on the Reusel. You are also welcome for a snack and a drink on the terrace or inside by the fireplace.
