The Island in the Maas is wedged between two arms of the Maas. You can walk here wonderfully quietly and enjoy the natural beauty. In Stevensweert you will find many historical sights.
Maasdijk
On the Maasdijk you have a beautiful view over the river. The farm on the other bank is in Belgium. In the village you can see, among other things, the Sint-Stephanus church from 1781. In the Singelstraat West you will find a wonderfully quiet atmosphere.
Tree monument
On the Molendijk you can climb an artificial hill for a beautiful view of the island and the Molenplas, a lake that was created by gravel extraction. On the right you see the tree monument: black oak trunks that were buried by Maas gravel 2000 years ago and came to the surface during gravel extraction! Further on is the Hompesche Molen, a corn mill from 1722. Via the path along the Dilkensplas and the Molenplas you walk back to the cozy and beautiful Stevensweert.
