Stevensbeek is a relatively young mining village in the eastern tip of Brabant. You will find special farms and the Radioplassen, a beautiful recreational area. Put on your walking shoes and enjoy this beautiful walk.
The Radio Lakes
From the village you can walk straight into the Radioplassen, a beautiful recreational area that owes its name to a former radio receiving station that received signals from the Dutch East Indies from 1919 to 1924. After five years, the staff was moved because they could not settle on the then uncultivated heathland.
Lactaria
It is wonderful to walk in the polders, just like in the forests of De Hondsbergen. What silence you experience here! The monumental farm complex NV Lactaria on Kloosterstraat dates from 1911. This is where the reclamation of the region started. After the death of the Protestant owner, Piet Stevens (the Catholic mayor of Sambeek) had the plot purchased through a stooge in 1934. And he founded a new village: Stevensbeek.
